The Bahamas Humane Society (BHS) is the oldest charity in The Bahamas and a trusted leader in animal welfare. For over a century, we’ve been a safe haven for thousands of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals. From adoptions and rescues to education and advocacy, our mission is to build a kinder, more compassionate Bahamas for all beings.

History & Mission
A Legacy of Love & Service
Originally formed as the Dumb Friends League, BHS has evolved into a national voice for animal welfare. We are affiliated with international organizations like the World Society for the Protection of Animals, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), and the Humane Society of the United States.
We believe that every animal deserves love, respect, and protection—and we work daily to make that belief a reality.
